Contributing towards this growth through prevention of accidents, and, improvement in Indian Railways infrastructure; ADJ Engineering, a trailblazer in providing railway technology solutions stands signified in this industry. Founded after a tragic accident in Kanpur which exposed critical gaps in railway diagnostics, ADJ Engineering has since dedicated itself to introduce innovative technologies that monitor, diagnose, and maintain railways infrastructure.
Strive to Bridge Railway Safety Gaps
ADJ Engineering was established in 2016 by Manish Pandey, a seasoned international business leader with over two decades of experience in Russia. In 2015, he moved to India with the goal of transforming Indian Railways through technological innovation, aiming contribution towards upliftment of his nation. The company specializes in sensor-based diagnostic and monitoring technologies for railways. Its onboard systems assess track conditions, overhead equipment, signalling, and ballast conditions. Additionally, under Innovation Policy of Indian Railways, ADJ has developed and installed ‘Broken Rail Detection System’ which identifies cracks in rails in real time to prevent accidents. It has also been engaged in stress-free temperature measurement to
address rail buckling and fractures caused by temperature variations.
Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw inspected the ‘Integrated Track Monitoring System (ITMS) supplied by ADJ Engineering and its partner TVEMA’ at New Delhi Railway Station in December, 2024. ITMS stands out with its advanced technology, designed to monitor and measure critical track parameters at speeds ranging from 20 to 200 kmph. This capability ensures comprehensive diagnostics and monitoring of track infra -structure without compromising operational efficiency, making it an essential tool for modern railway maintenance and safety management. During his visit, Shri. Vaishnaw commended the outstanding performance of ITMS over the last two years and announced the further procurement of this technology to equip all zonal railways. ITMS is currently being operated and maintained by trained engineers of ADJ Engineering for a period of seven years.
“Indian Railways used to rely on manual track monitoring, which had probability of missed defects and undetected issues. With the rise of high-speed trains, effective infrastructure monitoring is crucial. Systems supplied by us accurately detect and record defects as small as 0.1 mm, reporting findings directly to the maintenance department in real time for urgent attention”, says Ravi Raj, Head (Railways Division), ADJ Engineering.
Beyond railways, ADJ Engineering also operates in the defence, power, and metallurgy sectors.
Driving Innovations & Excellence
ADJ Engineering’s team includes advisors and consultants, many of whom are retired senior officials from Indian Railways and PSUs. These experts provide invaluable insights into the specific needs and challenges of Indian Railways, helping ADJ Engineering tailor its solutions to meet the unique demands of the sector. The company collaborates with global technology leaders to bring advanced systems to India, which ensures its position at the front of innovation in railway technology.
ADJ Engineering customizes its sensor technologies for various operators as per their requirements, giving it an advantage in this competitive landscape. Another landmark achievement is its ongoing project with South Central Railways, where it has been awarded a contract to monitor ballast bed conditions across 48,450 kilometers of track of Indian Railways. This project utilizes Ground Penetration Radar (GPR) technology to ensure the integrity of the track and ballast infrastructure, and is the first of its kind in India.
Towards the Future
Looking ahead, ADJ Engineering has plans to continue leading the way in diagnostic technology. The company intends to expand its presence both in Indian and global markets, setting new benchmarks for railway safety, efficiency, and innovation. With a focus on cutting-edge technology, precision diagnostics, and commitment to the nation’s railway modernization, ADJ Engineering is poised to be a significant partner in the journey of Indian Railways to its most glorious future.
