Ayyamma Prakash Gudnavar: An Entrepreneur Carving Experts out of Fresh Engineers

Ayyamma Prakash Gudnavar,Founder & CEOEngineering itself is a war against an army of academics. An AICTE report elucidates that the winners of this war are not exactly the ‘winners’ as more than 60 percent of the engineers graduating across the country every year remain unemployed. An Electronics & Communication Engineer graduated in 1998, Ayyamma Prakash Gudnavar (Founder & CEO, Pozibility Technologies) had an intense crave to mitigate this chaos while establishing her organization Pozibility Technologies Pvt. Ltd. in 2016. “To save time, we all want to hire only the experienced and expensive senior engineers who are productive from day one, leaving behind fresh engineers who struggle to get a chance,”opines Ayyamma.

Coming out of the ‘Secure’ Aura
Today, Pozibility not only has become one of the most preferred design services partner for semiconductor, Software andOEM companies, but also employs around 100 engineers under the aegis of Ayyamma, even before its first anniversary celebrations an unbelievable statistic in an industry like semiconductor! “When a fresher joins us and becomes an experienced senior who contributes to the industry over a period of time that brightness in his / her eyes gives me satisfaction & happiness, just like when I see a happy client of us,” asserts Ayyamma.

Despite the successful entrepreneurs, every human being has an inner feeling to become an entrepreneur, which either goes unrecognized or gets suppressed by the financial insecurity. In fact, to come out of that aura, it demands fearlessness, courage, & immense risk taking capability, which have been the buzzwords of
Ayyamma’s entrepreneurial journey. “I never thought I would be able to embark on an entrepreneurial journey, but in fact, the years of experience changed my perception,” asserts Ayyamma. Nevertheless, induction in Intel Technologies was the first turning point of her career.

People often talk deals over dinner & drinks. But I don’t drink. So I have organized my Schedules. I prepare my daily agendas every morning

While Intel made her well acquainted with the futuristic technologies and its production, the next company she joined (Tata Elxsi)taught her the predominant lessons of technology services. Thus, after 13 years of close knit mediation with consumers, Ayyamma became a technology wizard who fulfills the customer’s expectations & challenges with ease – an asset to any organization. “I was working closely with customers for more than a decade, which has helped me a lot in my entrepreneurial journey,” she adds. Even though Ayyamma served as the Group Head of Tata Elxsi for many years, she underwent a business management training to concrete her courage to start her own company.

No Challenge? You Are Doing Something Wrong!
“Even after kick-starting my entrepreneurial voyage, initially it was quite hard accounting to a lot of ups & downs. But when I started to focus on the business without any distortions, the things came back well under my control,”elucidates Ayyamma. However, she is blessed to have a wonderful family that wholeheartedly supports and cooperates with her busy schedules to an extent where her two daughters and husband lend helping hands when ever required. She says, “I have taken excuse from my family that I will not be available to any of them till I steady my ship”.Although, even
in this busy schedule, recently, she found time to spend some days in Thailand & Bangkok with her family. Furthermore, her evenings after office are reserved for the family.

However, steadying an organization is nothing less than a do-or-die game. In the inceptive stage, she even lost her one & only client, which was a huge blow to the business. That incident opened her eyes to realize the need for alternative clients, and in turn, she bagged almost 10 clients in shut-eye time leveraging her expertise to quickly connect with people and understand their queries by virtualizing her self into their shoes. On the flip side, since having a full-fledged & dedicated recruitment &sales team is luxurious for a technology startup, Ayyamma her self has taken the responsibility to go and meet the customers. But as a woman, she often finds limitations in terms of meeting timings. She says, “People often talk deals over dinner & drinks. But I don’t drink. So I have organized my schedules. I prepare my daily agendas every morning”.

On the other hand, post having 2-3 meetings a day, no plush chair waits for her; in fact she gets into the boots of a tech-team head and guides her team of engineers. Augmenting on the challenges, she had initial hiccups in terms of finance department as well, accounting to the lack of knowledge in finance and economics – curse goes to the engineering curriculum. But, an expert in problem solving, Ayyamma reached out to her husband who is an expert in finance and runs an educational institution. Cut to the present, her life partner being a company partner as well, she doesn’t have any headache when it comes to anything finance.

“I don’t run behind money, instead tries to do the best I can. I want to present at least 1000 engineers to the semiconductor industry, and I consider it as my social responsibility,” asserts Ayyamma. A book lover who found inspiration in Sudha Murthy’s stories to become an entrepreneur, Ayyamma today is an inspiration for many engineers across the country.
