Shri. M. George Muthoot(Founder Chairman The Muthoot Group) desired that he should pay back the obligation of providing essential care with humanity, compassion, and kindness to his grassroots population. He passed on his vision to his son, Dr. George Kurien Muthoot MRCP who was unequivocal in his commitment to locate the healthcare and development facility in their village so that the generations to come would reap the benefit of high quality healthcare at their doorsteps.
Giving up the comforts of home to treat the medically underserved, Dr. George Kurien Muthoot laid the foundation for the Mar Gregorious Memorial Muthoot Medical Centre Kozhencherry on 14th May 1982. He went on to take charge as its Founding Medical Director and was a legendary success in cutting across the full gamut of complexities of rural health care in Kerala of the times.
In spite of settling down in the UK, his son, Dr. Georgie Kurien Muthoot MRCGP who was working as a General Practitioner for the NHS had deep roots in his homeland. Due to the values and ethos imbibed in him by his father, Dr. Georgie came back home with the best knowledge in medicine to serve the community.That vision has now grown into the Muthoot Healthcare division which is the Flagship Healthcare facility of The Muthoot Group and is one of the largest multi speciality hospitals in the region.
Dr. Georgie who took over the helm of the Muthoot Healthcare division believes that "Excellence is no accident". It is the result of intentional efforts toward continual enhancement through strategic planning and attention to every detail.
In the current healthcare world, it is tough for low-income families that have health issues to seek immediate care, which is why he believes that in the coming years primary
care medicine will play a key role in our health care systems. They keep people well at home and in community settings close to home.
Under his able Leadership, the division has partnered with State Health Authorities by aiding in the detection and treatment of COVID-19, allocating critical resources towards operating a First line Treatment Centre at their facility and developing a state of the art COVID-19 inpatient treatment wing. While the management of the pandemic is a priority for the division,continuity of care is given equal importance. This is due to the dedicated efforts of their multifaceted team of Clinicians, Nurses, Paramedical and Support Staff. hour by establishing the M. G. George Muthoot Cancer Centre. The Centre was set up in 2016 to help aid the community in the awareness detection and treatment of cancer and all its modalities.

Muthoot Healthcare has been working towards increasing access to healthcare by amalgamating internet technology into customer interaction. The team has embraced the digital trend and is pioneering in the usage of WhatsApp for Business and social media through the introduction of customer interaction, enquiries, and booking services enhancing the ease of communication. With over 20 years of experience in Healthcare in India & abroad, Dr. Georgie took the helm as the Executive Director in 2010 and as the Medical and Managing Director in 2018 during which he worked towards placing Muthoot Healthcare on the Healthcare map of India. For his work in improving access to healthcare, he has been recognised as one of the Top 10 leaders in Healthcare in 2020 and one of the top 25 Most Influential Healthcare Leaders in 2021.
