In conversation with Charulatha, Correspondent, Silicon india Magazine, Kapil shares his views on the factors that are fueling the industry's demand for cloud adoption in India as well as the Safeguard security of customer data considering concerns about data security and cyber threats.

The evolution of Cloud databases in the coming years and the major challenges that need to be addressed
Today, software and digital services powered by the cloud have revolutionized businesses in a big way. Businesses are unable to keep pace with the growing competition that are away from adopting cloud-based solutions; they often miss out on innovation and agility. As per a survey by PwC; enterprises can achieve 92% profitability by adopting cloud.

Over time, Cloud solutions have become more reliable, secure, and efficient. The evolution of cloud databases in the coming years is expected to bring several changes. Cloud databases offer greater scalability that allows businesses to easily adjust resources as per their needs. This flexibility is crucial for handling varying workloads. Continued improvements in performance will lead to faster query execution and data retrieval. We anticipate that the trend toward multi-cloud and hybrid solutions will grow, allowing businesses to use databases across different cloud platforms and on-premises environments. According to IDC, the Indian Public Cloud Services (PCS) market is on the brink of substantial growth, with a projected compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 23.4% from 2022 to 2027.

Cloud databases offer greater scalability that allows businesses to easily adjust resources as per their needs

As we witness that serverless databases are becoming more popular, offering automatic scaling, and reducing operational overhead, there will be a growing demand for them as well. Managed database services will become more sophisticated, providing advanced features like automated backups and enhanced security. Humans will experience a deeper and interconnected relationship with technology.

Customers have expressed concerns about the constraints of initial cloud solutions, such as issues regarding deployment adaptability, migration intricacies, security, regulatory adherence, and compatibility. These challenges have given rise to a prevailing trend in Indian organizations, where they are moving away from conventional cloud providers and adopting our advanced cloud infrastructure.

"Enterprises are shifting their reasons for adopting cloud services from mere cost savings to focusing on growth, agility, and innovation"

Factors are fueling the industry's demand for cloud adoption in India
India's cloud computing market has witnessed substantial growth, fueled by increased internet penetration, government digitization efforts, and a thriving startup ecosystem. Enterprises are shifting their reasons for adopting cloud services from mere cost savings to focusing on growth, agility, and innovation. Moreover, Government initiatives in digital technology adoption, alongside the need for organizations to adapt and innovate in their business and revenue models, are driving this cloud adoption trend.

More government and regulatory organizations are embracing cloud services to enhance performance, reduce costs, and promote data-driven governance. Digitalization and supportive policies have strengthened the entrepreneurship culture, benefiting both traditional enterprises evolving into modern organizations and digitally native startups thriving on the cloud. The growing collaboration between global cloud service providers and local enterprises is fostering the adoption of cloud technologies and nurturing a dynamic ecosystem of cloud-based services and solutions. The next wave of growth in India is expected to be driven by data modernization and data-led innovation, particularly through products and services utilizing AI, ML, and emerging solutions like industry specific and functional clouds.

The organization's approach to improving its cloud solutions in response to the growing emphasis on cloud technology, including any recent advancements
Today, organizations are taking a holistic approach to enhance their cloud solutions, addressing technical, operational, and customer-centric aspects to stay competitive and meet the evolving needs of their clients. This makes innovation and adaptation a significant area. We are seeing increasing investments in research and development by companies to stay at the forefront of cloud technology, ensuring their offerings remain competitive and up to date.

As data security and privacy take center stage, enhanced security measures are a fundamental component of this approach. Scalability and flexibility are crucial features in modern cloud solutions. Organizations adopt elastic infrastructure and services, allowing for seamless adjustments to accommodate evolving business needs. The adoption of hybrid and multi-cloud strategies provides customers with greater options and flexibility, allowing them to choose the best cloud environment for their specific requirements. Organizations are using monitoring tools and best practices to ensure their cloud services run efficiently and reliably. Cost management is also a top priority for organizations. There are effective measures and constant monitoring in place to avoid unexpected costs. Enhancing the user experience is another focus area, involving the creation of user-friendly interfaces and optimized load times for maximum customer satisfaction. We are also seeing investment in training and skill development for a tech savvy workforce.

Safeguard the security of customer data considering concerns about data security and cyber threats
Databases hold valuable, sensitive information and are prime targets for data theft. Data security best practices encompass techniques like data encryption, key management, data redaction, data sub setting, data masking, privileged user access controls, auditing, and monitoring. These practices should be applied both on-premises and in the cloud to reduce the risk of data breaches and ensure regulatory compliance. Three key solution areas involve assessing, detecting, and monitoring database activity and threats.

Our primary focus is enabling customers to harness the agility, flexibility, and scalability of the cloud while maintaining top-tier security for their data and their customers' data. Security is seamlessly integrated into our cloud solutions from the architectural level, ensuring inherent security by design. We collaborate with industry leaders, such as Applied Invention, to establish an open standard for network and data security, spanning on-premises and distributed cloud environments.

This collaborative endeavor aims to assist organizations in securing their data in distributed IT environments. Specifically, we are committed to creating an open and universally accepted standard for Zero Trust Packet Routing (ZPR), empowering organizations to prevent un- authorized access and data misuse without introducing unnecessary obstacles to their operations.
